He's a re-issue version of the 1933 comedy short "Mickey's Race", AKA "Mickey's Derby Day", starring the multi-talented Mickey Rooney. This short film was apparently the last film in the "Mickey McGuire" series. Please forgive the annoyin way the DVD publisher put their logo in the corner during the credits.

Comedy in B-westerns tended to be forced and to depend heavily on knock-about slapstick. Andy Clyde, a former Mack Sennett comedian and Hoppy's sidekick in many of the Hopalong Cassidy westerns, relied on mild slapstick while delivering some really funny lines. Here are Andy, along with Ethel Wales as "Aunty" and Earle Hodgins (one of the most underrated comics in films) as a preacher, in a three-way welter of misunderstanding. It makes for a really funny bit. This sequence has been edited slightly for clarity.

"Max Linder is seen in a two-reel comedy that combines the scenic beauty of the Riviera with humor of the sort that has made Max famous. Some of the scenes are truly beautiful. The comedy element is rather slow in coming, but when it comes Max gets over a full share of laughs. The story tells of two girls crazy over Max and who later fight a duel over him. But Max gets one of the bullets.

Camera is positioned as if in the audience at a vaudeville or burlesque show. Two men with long hair and beards in rough clothing appear to be eating and talking in a box on the left as a female aerialist sits on a trapeze over the stage and its painted backdrop of trees. Fully dressed in street clothing, the trapezist removes her jacket and hat before performing a flip. She stands to remove her skirt and then sits back down on the bar as she takes off her corset and throws it to the country bumpkins in the box, who fight over the undergarment.
